What is an ETA?
The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is an
electronically stored authority to travel to Australia for a short
stay.
- It removes the need for a visa label or
stamp in a passport.
- If you are granted an ETA, you will not
have any evidence placed in your passport. The record of your
authority to travel is stored electronically on a computer system
operated by Australian Immigration. The World of Travel has full
access to this system, enabling us to confirm that you can enter
Australia
- You may arrange your visit to Australia
& apply for an ETA at the same time, simply by asking us for an
ETA.
- ETA's can normally be obtained in a matter
of seconds.
- The ETA enables passengers to be processed
more quickly on arrival in Australia.
Who can get an ETA?
- You can get an enter Australia on an ETA
if you meet the following conditions:
- You hold a passport approved for ETA (see
above list).
- Your visit to Australia is for: Tourism/visiting
relatives/business meetings/convention or conference
- You will not work in Australia
- You will not stay in Australia for more
than three months
- You are in good health & have no criminal
convictions
- You use the ETA within twelve months, or
before the expiry date of your current passport.
If you do not meet these requirements, please contact
the nearest Australian diplomatic office for advice on appropriate
types of visa.
