Waimea Canyon
The "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" boasts a panorama of ever-changing greens against a red earth backdrop. Formed by a massive fault that split the island, the ridges and gorges that line the canyon were smoothed and honed by rainfall. Take the Waimea Canyon Drive for some of the best views, particularly when the canyon is swathed in morning mists or bathed in the orange and red glow of the afternoon sun.

Hanalei Bay
Backed by craggy green peaks and lined with swaying palms, the perfect semicircular curve of Hanalei Bay is a strong contender for the most beautiful bay in the world. You're sure to be drawn by the rolling white surf, crashing on to soft golden sand.

Na Pali Coast
The north of the island plays host to some beautiful coastline, particularly the Na Pali cost. Knife sharp ridges plunge down to meet the sea, resplendent in a continually shifting array of greens. One of the best ways of seeing the coast is on a thrilling helicopter ride. Alternatively, join one of the boat trips that hug the coast, offering close-up views.

Spouting Horn Geyser
Natural fountains are formed when waves crash against a hole in the black lava field. Spray is forced high into the air, often leaving rainbows suspended in mid-air.

Film Locations
The stunning beauty of Kauai has drawn film crews to the island for years. King Kong was hunted down in the lush Kalalau Valley; the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park roamed the island; Elvis Presley got married in Blue Hawaii close to Wailua River, while South Pacific immortalised Hanalei Bay and Lumahai Beach.

Golf
Kauai boasts some of the finest golf courses in the world, all of which are open to the public. The Princeville Resort's Price Course is considered to be amongst the best; or you may prefer the Kiele Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Whichever you choose, all offer an excellent round of golf and breathtaking scenery.
