A passion from a young age

I’ve always been interested in travel, right from a young lad. My late parents used to take my sister and I on summer holidays to different destinations (we were very lucky to visit some of the places we went to) around the world.

Personal Service

Personal service was always vital to my parents and I have continued this philosophy. I feel that travel starts and ends from the moment you leave your home or place of work, until you get back.

The Right Connections

Having had over thirty years in the travel industry, I am lucky enough to have worked with some excellent suppliers, many of whom I deal with to this day. This means that, within reason, no matter what the enquiry is, I can call upon my contacts to assist me in helping you.

To Budget

What we do believe in, is value for money, and the fact that one size most definitely does not fit all. One trip may require budget accommodation, whilst the next may be five star accommodation, with all the trimmings.

Our Story

I’ve always been interested in travel, right from a young lad. My late parents used to take my sister and I on summer holidays to different destinations (we were very lucky to visit some of the places we went to) around the world.

A supply of holiday brochures would be picked up from the travel agent just before Christmas and come Boxing Day my Dad would have them spread out all over the floor (much to my Mum’s displeasure) to see which ones he liked the look of. Then, during the next few days a decision would be made and a booking given to a local travel agent that my Dad knew well.

In the early seventies booking a holiday was a major event, so my parents wanted to deal with a travel agency that would give them a service they were happy with. In other words, they would go to people who would sit them down and work through their requirements, giving them advice on all aspects of the annual family holiday.

Once booked, my sister and I would get told where we were going (to my sister, she really didn’t care where she went, but for me it was the start of a great adventure), and for the next seven or eight months my Dad would make me do “homework” by researching where we were going, what to do, who we were flying with. He also helped me learn around five or six words of the local language to be going on with. I always moaned about having to do this, but little did I realise just how useful it would be in later years!

As I was never going to be an academic at school, my parents wondered what they would do with me. I opted to leave at the age of 16 and went to work in the family business, which my Mum & Dad had set up, a speciality bookshop and mail order business, dealing with aircraft, bus, HGV and rail, books, postcards and videos (yes, it was VHS and Betamax back then!).

A couple of years later, my Dad decided to look at the travel industry, and expanded the business to incorporate a travel agency. We began by selling flights, and then added package holidays, before expanding to cover all aspects of travel, including package holidays, and eventually expanded to cover all aspects of travel.

My parents passed away a few years ago, and I took over the running of the business, which incorporates both leisure and business travel not only throughout the UK, but to all four corners of the globe. Although based in Twickenham, close to Heathrow Airport, we have clients based all over the UK, and worldwide too, meaning that we are far from thinking like a London-centric agency. When we say we cover the globe, we mean it.

I always offer door-to-door service as an option, if required, whether this be in the form of chauffeur, hire cars or airport parking, the choice is up to you. There are a plethora of other services we can arrange, from help with obtaining a visa to arranging for a translator, and much anything in between. Equally, I realise that a client may only want the basics done, and I totally respect that too.

Whilst you are away, you may want tours and excursions booked, a personal tour guide, personal shopper, meeting room and/or venue hire, as well as a raft of other things too, not forgetting flowers/champagne in a room for that special occasion, or just because you care. Likewise, if you are travelling as a couple, you may prefer one or two beds. For those with mobility impairments you are not forgotten. I will do my utmost to assist when and wherever possible to ensure your travels run as smoothly as they can, with minimal disruptions.

Besides travelling to a new city or country I’ve not been to before, meeting new people, or even learning a few words of an unfamiliar language, I’m also a civil aviation enthusiast. As far back as I can remember my Dad used to take me up to the Queen’s Building at Heathrow Airport, so that I could watch the planes coming and going from all over the world.

I’m still an enthusiast to this day, and take delight in arranging travel for fellow enthusiasts who like to travel worldwide for their hobby, whether it be for aircraft, bus or railway spotting. I understand their needs and specifics. This philosophy extends pretty much to any aspect of travel, and being a bespoke travel agent, no two itineraries are ever quite the same.

If you are part of a group of people (normally ten or more adults travelling together), I can provide you with group rates for flight, rail and coach travel, as well as special accommodation rates. Of course, this extends to other aspects according to your needs.

Having had over thirty years in the travel industry, I am lucky enough to have worked with some excellent suppliers, many of whom I deal with to this day. This means that, within reason, no matter what the enquiry is, I can call upon my contacts to assist me in helping you. So if you want a private jet, a chauffeur car, tickets to a theatre or football match, I probably know someone that can help.

At WOT Travel, we do not do cheap. If you want cheap, then there are some direct-only tour operators who prefer not to allow members of the public to book through an agent like us. That’s their prerogative.

What we do believe in however, is value for money, and the fact that one size most definitely does not fit all. One trip may require budget accommodation, whilst the next may be five star accommodation, with all the trimmings.

Whether you require a low cost carrier flight, or a full service airline, a private jet, or maybe charter an entire plane, then we can arrange it. Equally, if you are planning rail or coach travel, we can part or full charter for you, and don’t forget, that’s worldwide.

So, regardless of what your travel plans entail, you need only ask us for a quotation, and the rest you can leave up to us.
